When we started Hapinoy, we called it "The First and Only Sari-Sari Store Chain in the Philippines". This title was all over our collaterals and materials, on the second slide of our powerpoint presentation and mentioned in the first five minutes of the numerous talks we gave about the program.
And though still true today, we felt that Hapinoy has evolved to be more than a sari-sari store chain. What became evident was that when the Hapinoy program reached the heights and the breadth that we had set out for it, it would affect more than just the sari-sari stores in the network -- in effect, it would serve as a platform for goods, services and information that would not only benefit the retailers that were part of the program but the consumers that bought from them and the producers that supplied them as well.
For the sari-sari stores who are part of the program, the opportunity to grow their incomes through better acquisition prices, training, product assortment and new business would be the foundation of their continued support for the program.
For the micro-producers, the assistance needed to improve their products and the opportunity to eventually sell these through a supportive and dynamic network that would take into account their developmental realities would be their main benefit in joining Hapinoy.
For the consumers that frequent the Hapinoy Stores, the opportunity to purchase quality goods and services at affordable prices, as well as receive valuable information for their families and their communities would be their reason for their loyalty to the Hapinoy Stores.
Now imagine all of this happening in every corner of the Philippines. Every corner where there are hardworking Filipinos who simply want a better life for their families. Every corner where Filipinos who have to go abroad for opportunities and can now find opportunities in their own homeland. Every corner where there are Filipinos who remain a happy and loving people even in the most challenging of times.
In each of these corners, we imagine that you won't just find a sari-sari store, you'll find a Hapinoy Store that is part of an ecosystem of opportunity for those that need opportunities the most.
This is our goal. This is One Hapinoy Nation.
