My BFF: The Business Cell Concept of Hapinoy
“Ang turingan namin ay higit pa sa magkakaibigan, para na kaming magkakamag-anak.”
That is how Tita Betty describes her relationship with fellow Hapinoy Negosyantes she met during her first day of Hapinoy Training.
Though some sari-sari store owners may see others as competitors, being friends with them is not an unusual event in the Philippines. It is our culture to be friendly and get along with others, especially with the people around us. Hapinoy, being an advocate of building good and long-lasting relationships among microentrepreneurs, created a venue for them to be business friends. This birthed the concept of a business cell or what we call the Business Friends Forever or BFF Group– the basic organized unit of Samahang Hapinoy.
“Mahalaga ang pagkakaroon ng ka-BFF dahil nakakatulong kami sa isa’t isa. Kung may problema kami sa negosyo, nakakapagkwento kami. Iyong mga natutunan namin training tulad ng paglilista, amin ding napag-uusapan”, exclaimed Tita Betty.
A BFF Group serves as the support system of a Hapinoy Negosyante. Within the group, professional and personal relationships are being developed among members. Here they can discuss business tips and strategies, share their experiences and learnings and give business advice to one another. More than that, they can share challenges and celebrate successes with each other. It develops a long-term connection and friendship among members, which can in turn help them grow as microentrepreneurs and individuals.
Hapinoy, in partnership with Mastercard, created a set of activities and efforts to connect every Hapinoy Negosyante to each other. It also provided venue for them to express themselves and get to know others.
“Nakita ko yong mga kahinaan ko at napagtanto na dapat mas maging masigasig pa at magsikap. Ganon din ang aking mga ka-negosyante. Nakita ko na lahat kami ay kagustuhang magsikap. Maganda kasi nalaman nila ang pag-uugali ng isa’t isa at naikwento ang mga problema nila sa iba,” added Tita Betty.
The training and workshops implemented to establish BFF groups are just the starting point for Hapinoy Negosyantes. It is Hapinoy’s goal to eventually link all BFF groups together and build a network of growth-oriented sari-sari store owners who are willing and able to make an impact not only in their families but also in their respective communities.
This is the Samahang Hapinoy Vision – a network where Tita Betty and all Hapinoy Negosyantes are part of.
